Follow my journey to the 2025 Punta Gorda PPA Challenger as I compete in 4.0 pickleball singles, doubles, and mixed with family by my side!

Heading into the PPA Challenger Punta Gorda 2025

In just one week, I’ll be lacing up my court shoes, grabbing my paddle, and stepping onto the courts for the PPA Challenger event in Punta Gorda, Florida, happening May 23 to 25, 2025. This marks my second PPA tournament, following my first one at the Cape Coral PPA event two months ago in March. I’m thrilled to be competing at the 4.0 level for the first time, and I’m ready to dive into this exciting opportunity to test my skills, connect with the pickleball community, and have a blast. Here’s a look at what’s in store and how I’m preparing for this big weekend!

The Lineup: Three Days, Three Categories

The Punta Gorda PPA Challenger is packed with action, and I’m all in, competing in three categories over three days:

  • Friday: I’ll kick things off with 4.0 Women’s Singles, where I’ll focus on staying clear-headed and dialed in on each shot.
  • Saturday: It’s time for 4.0 Women’s Doubles, where I’ll be teaming up with my sister, Mackenzie. We’ve played together before and won gold at a local tournament, so I can’t wait to see how this one plays out!
  • Sunday: I’ll wrap up the weekend with 4.0 Mixed Doubles, partnering with my big brother Jeremy. We earned silver together in a local tournament in Nicaragua, and I’m excited to see how our dynamic works in a bigger setting like Punta Gorda. My sister Mackenzie will be playing with my dad in the same category, so we might even have to play against each other!

Leveling Up: From Cape Coral to Punta Gorda

My first PPA experience in Cape Coral was a whirlwind of learning and growth. It gave me a taste of competitive play and taught me some valuable lessons that I’m bringing with me to Punta Gorda. This time, I’m better prepared in three key areas:

  • Hydration: I’m making sure to drink plenty of water, especially under that intense Florida sun.
  • Clothing: I’m choosing weather-appropriate, comfortable clothes that let me move freely on the court.
  • Mindset: Above all, I’m focusing on staying positive and present, no matter the score. I want to enjoy the moment, not just the outcome.

A New Paddle, A New Chapter

One of the biggest changes this time around is my paddle. At the PPA in Cape Coral, I used the Paddletek ALW Signature Paddle (12.7mm). For Punta Gorda, I’ll be using the Joola 3s Perseus 14mm, which I feel suits my game much better. I’ve been practicing with it to get used to its feel, and I’m excited to see how it performs in competition. It’s a small change, but one that feels like a meaningful step in my growth as a player.

Why This Tournament Matters

Playing at the 4.0 level for the first time is a big milestone. It’s my chance to push myself, see how far I’ve come since March, and face stronger competition. But beyond that, I’m just excited to keep growing, to meet new players, and to enjoy sharing the court with Mackenzie and Jeremy. That’s what really makes this weekend special. It’s not just about the competition, it’s about the experience.

Ready for the Challenge

As the countdown begins, I’m staying focused on my training while keeping my excitement in check. My goal is simple: play my best, learn something new in every match, and have fun. Win or lose, I know this weekend will be packed with unforgettable moments, great competition, and new connections in the pickleball world.

Stay tuned for my next blog on how everything went in Punta Gorda!
